What to Do Before Meeting the Builder

Many pool builders will include all of the bells and whistles in their initial estimate, which makes for a large and intimidating quote. Defining a budget beforehand and communicating it to us will allow the awkward initial stages to be skipped and advance the process more quickly along the path of building your dream pool.

Once you have your budget in place, it’s time to prioritize your features. Here are some common questions you must ask yourself:

  • How big do I want my pool to be?

  • Do I want decking? If so, how much? What type of material?

  • Do I want a hot tub? Where? What size?

  • Do I want features such as a tanning ledge, waterfalls, waterslides, special lighting, or a swim-up bar?

Ranking your priories here will be a crucial step. Unless you have an unlimited budget, you might have to choose between a few square feet of decking over a waterfall. Either way, it’s important to have a ranking of priorities that you can communicate to your builder so we can find the perfect combination of features for your needs.

When considering your priority rankings, also keep in mind that some aspects of the pool-building process need to be settled immedietly. Making changes later in the building process are often costly, time consuming, and at times impossible. Therefore, keep the preceding things in mind when you are deciding what your dream pool should be.

The Building Process

After defining what you want in your backyard, we can get the project moving and start building! During this process, the backyard can get a little messy and have areas to be cautionary around, especially with children and animals. We install temporary fencing to protect from unwanted visitors entering your yard. The process is all worth it in the end when you have your beautiful backyard ready for the friends and family to enjoy!

Following the contractual agreement, the building process starts off with marking the yard. We lay the pool out with flags and paint in order for you to better envision of where exactly the pool will fit in your backyard! Upon your approval, excavation is scheduled. After excavation, we prepare to shoot gunite by first installing stub out, or soft plumbing, and then rebar, with ensures the structural integrity of the pool. Once completed, we move onto gunite. Shooting gunite takes one business day and is the most important part of the process. We have worked with excellent subcontractors, especially for Gunite, for many years and create strong, durable pools. Gunite needs to cure for 14 to 28 days. During that process, components of the pool construction are completed. From gunite, we move onto plumbing and electrical, then tile and coping, decking, and lastly, plaster. We are fortunate to work with knowledgeable and talented subcontractors that will deliver you the pool you have been wanting for years!
